Dear Nike Air Zoom Hot shot+,

This is so hard to write, you were there for me from the start of my journey, I've told the tale of how I walked into the Nike store and came out with you in less than 5 minutes no questions asked. I knew nothing about running shoes and you were thrust upon me, and we slowly began to get acquainted.

I loved your all black colour although I did feel that your blue sole was a bit garish, I loved your open mesh upper especially during summer and the convenience of your toggle closure so I didn't have to bother with laces.

I still remember our first run together when I could barely run 60 seconds you were squeaky clean and I was so proud of you, I wanted to stop halfway then I looked down and remembered the investment I made in you and it reminded me that my running was also an investment in myself and I got it together and kept going.

As the months went by and I learnt more about my gait I realized that the aches and pains I was getting could have something to do with you, but I couldn't let go, we had to run our first race together, I felt I owed you that, and we did but my feet were a mess afterwards and it put me off running for a while. As usual you know the drill, my weight has piled on and I've got to do something about it, so I went for a gait analysis and yeah you were the problem so sadly it's time to say goodbye. You'll always hold a special place in my heart and my shoe cupboard (no way am I getting rid of you)
Love always,

Abi

Dear Nike Air Zoom Structure Triax 11,

Hello, my name is Abi, we are going to be running mates! I have a really good feeling about you. I hope the look of horror on my face didn't hurt your feelings when you were recommended to me, I'm used to dark coloured shoes and I just thought you were a bit colourful, but I'm over that now all the better to be seen especially as its getting darker now.

I thought our 5 minute run on the treadmill at the running store was very comfy, but this morning on the road was fantastic, it felt like I was running on grass, I know it's still early days but so far I'm really glad I got you and I'm looking forward to many more runs with you.
Cheers,

Abi

You got to run in them for 5 minutes before buying? Very cool!

You ever try asics shoes? I love them! The thing I dislike about them is the fact that the color inside of the shoe rubs off onto your socks.

yep 5 mins John, and I can return the shoes for a new pair if I'm not happy with them within 30 days

@ Will, never tried asics but heard a lot of good things about them, I stuck with Nike because I use the Nike+ system haven't saved enough for my garmin!

Welcome back, Abi! Enjoy your new running sneaks! You have good taste in shoes, because -- guess what! -- we have the exact same running shoes. LOL! See, I told you we are running buddy "sole mates" (Groan!) - Hahahaha!

When a sporting goods store gives you a good gait analysis & also lets you run for 5 minutes in shoes you are going to be running in for 300 miles, that's usually the hallmark of a decent running store. Gotta love specialty stores that let you "Try before you buy," eh? It's really the only way to go.

Had a good chuckle reading your "goodbye" letter to your shoes. I felt the exact same way as you when I tossed my last pair! Running shoes can sometimes become like old friends, eh?! All the same, I'm glad to hear that you found a new pair that makes your feet feel a whole lot better!
